I want to thank my supporters in both political parties and retired Tredyffrin Township District 2 Supervisor Bill DeHaven for his guidance and mentorship.
On paper, the District 2 race shouldn’t have been even close based on the low turnout and the significant straight ticket voter advantage of 253 votes. However, my bi-partisan committee and bi-partisan outreach proved to be successful and enabled me to come very close to closing the deal…71 votes. The fact that the Republican challenger in the 157th District race, less than two years ago, won this area by nearly 500 votes demonstrates how effective and positive my campaign was in reaching taxpayers of all political stripes.
The Democratic and Republican support was evident in the numbers and I am most grateful for those who focused on what is best for Tredyffrin and not on a party label. As we look to the next election in 2012, we all must focus on electing people who have proven themselves, not simply because they have an R or D next to their name.
Let’s change the focus to bringing out more voters and making sure they are properly educated on what the Board of Supervisors is and what the candidates bring to the table on the Issues. Get involved by attending meetings and stay informed by logging on to www.tredyffrin.org. Hold your elected officials accountable for their actions…don’t be a spectator!
The personal attacks for not being married long enough, for supporting fire sprinklers, or comparing family sizes that I encountered in the final week of the campaign has no place in Tredyffrin politics and no person Democrat or Republican should be subject too.
Best wishes to Tredyffrin Township and the Board of Supervisors in 2010.
Sincerely,
Eamon C. Brazunas
